When Worlds Collide 3: Airborne Summary: The plane takes off, and things begin to get
interesting. Dulles Airport Oceanic Airways Departure Lounge "Passengers Rabb, Harmon and Sarah Rabb, please see the agent at the gate." The voice came over the intercom. Harm and Mac exchanged glances. "What's happening now?" Harm asked. "Our tickets were confirmed, and there were no hitches when we checked in." "Perhaps your sordid past has caught up with you finally," Mac joked as they walked up to the counter and identified themselves to the Oceanic employee standing there. "Captain Rabb, we have seats available in First Class, and we'd like to offer you a free upgrade as a way of saying thank you for your service to our country," the agent told them. "Wow, uh, thanks." Harm grinned and accepted the new boarding passes. "This trip is really starting off on the right foot." Within minutes, they began boarding the aircraft. Once again, Harm and Mac saw the familiar young man they had noticed on the people mover enter the jetway with the other First Class passengers. "Maybe we'll find out why he's so familiar," Mac commented. "We'll have several hours to get to know him." They got settled in their seats and the flight attendants began their safety spiel as the airplane backed away from the terminal and began taxiing towards the runway. "I've never flown First Class before," Mac said, "And from what I've seen so far, I like it!" Harm chuckled. "Uh oh. You're going to get spoiled and expect this every time we fly? I'm in trouble now." "Shouldn't I expect the best?" she teased. Harm responded the only way he could, by leaning over and kissing her. "Of course." The takeoff went smoothly and soon they were in the air. In the air over North America "Hello, sweetie," Abby's familiar voice rang in Tony's ear, making him jump. "I know you can't answer out loud, but wanted to make sure you had this turned on. Ziva and McGee are working on identifying Hassan's contacts here in the US, and should have something to report in a couple of hours or so. Cough once if you acknowledge and understand." Tony complied. "I'll contact you once we have something to give you. Abby, over and out." Tony grinned at Abby's military sign off. Good thing Gibbs can't see where I'm sitting right now, he thought to himself as he stretched out in his reclined chair and the flight attendant brought him some bottled water and a three-course meal, I'd get a smack for sure. Out of habit, he looked around the cabin after dinner and noticed the attractive woman he had seen in the bus to the terminal, along with her companion. They had their seats converted into beds and were curled together, sleeping. Lucky man. Having scoped out the flight attendants (and discovered they were all married or in a relationship), Tony leaned back and started reading a magazine. None of the movies interested him - not a John Wayne movie on any channel - and he always had a hard time sleeping on an airplane, especially when on an assignment. Finally he felt himself getting a little drowsy. He leaned his chair back, pulled a blanket over his legs and put the eye mask on to block out the cabin lights. Just as he was dreaming that Giselle Bundchen was asking him to put suntan lotion on her back, Gibbs' voice interrupted. "Wake up, Tony! We've got a problem!" |
