Saturday Night
Mac’s Motel Room

Harm allowed himself to be pulled behind Mac. “I can think of one or two things that we could do. If you’ve got the energy after all that dancing tonight,” he teased.

“I’ll dance you,” she threatened and pushed him down on the bed.

She tore off his clothes. When Harm tried to pull off Mac’s, she slapped his hands aside. “All in good time.”

“Just remember we have to get up in,” and Harm glanced at his watch, “five hours.”

Mac got a devilish grin on her face. “We could just stay up all night.”

“You are going to be the death of me, Mac,” Harm groaned, then pulled her towards him for a kiss, which grew into more as they entertained each other as only two adults can.

Afterward, Mac lay cradled in Harm’s, running her hands through his hair. “So how long before you recharge, sailor?”

Harm groaned again. “You really are going to be the death of me!”

Sunday Morning
Norfolk Naval Hospital

“Morning, Mrs. Talbert,” Harm and Mac greeted Brenda Talbert, walking into the hospital room. “How is Ron this morning.”

She turned a weary face toward them. “Same as he’s been all week. He moves and I think he’s about to wake up, but the nurses tell me that’s normal, given his condition. “

“Oh no,” Mac put a hand on her shoulder.

“I know it’s too much to hope for, but I keep waiting for my miracle.”

“So when are they transferring Ron?” Harm gently asked.

“Friday,” Brenda answered. “We’ll have a guard with us the whole way. When will this stop?”

“When we catch Matheson.” Gibbs walked in the room.

“Do you some news on that?” Brenda sounded hopeful.

Harm, Mac and Gibbs traded a glance. Gibbs spoke. “Not yet, but very soon, we hope.”

“Don’t worry about that, though,” Mac told her. “You focus on Ron – he needs you.”

Brenda said, “I know he got involved with the wrong people, but he’s … he’s my son and I love him.”

“And he was doing the right thing in the end. Don’t forget that,” Gibbs told her.

They stayed a while longer with her, but saw she wanted to be alone with her son.

“Now that’s love,” Harm said to Mac as they walked down the hallway. “No matter what he’s done, she stands by him.”

“It’s no more than what you would do for your mother, your brother …”

“Or you.” Harm finished her sentence.

Mac smiled up at him. “The same goes for you, sailor.”
