ABBA-esque 2: Lay All Your Love On Me By: slick1969 Summary: Mac doesn't let Harm have the last word when it comes to karaoke. Takes place a week after ABBA-esque 1. Rating: IM15 Inappropriate for children under the age of 15 - Some references to drugs, sex, bad language, and violence, but not in an overly descriptive manner. Disclaimer: I own these characters ... yeah right, I wish I did. I promise to play nicely with them, though. Well, maybe I'll play nicely with them... The song that inspired the title of the story is sung by Abba (who else?). "ABBA-esque" comes from the Erasure album of Abba covers. Spoilers: Takes place before the series finale. McMurphy's Bar Friday, 1930 hours Same time, same bar, same group of friends. And yet it was entirely different, Harm thought as he walked in holding hands with Mac. He smiled and brought her hand up to his lips. "Thinking about last week?" Mac asked. "Sort of." Harm guided her to the table where Bud, Harriet and Sturgis were waiting. "I was thinking how much things have changed since I walked into this bar last week." "Yes, they have. And I have to say I like the change." She kissed him. "A lot." "Boy, you guys don't quit, do you?" Sturgis teased. "When is Varese coming home, anyway?" Harm pulled out a chair for Mac and then sat down next to her. Sturgis looked at his watch. "In about 3 hours. That's why I'm sticking with soda." He held up his glass. "Good idea. Varese would like you to get to the airport in one piece, I'm sure." The good humor and joking continued as the waitress came and took drink orders for the new arrivals. She nearly dropped her pencil and asked, "Weren't you the guy who sang here last week?" Harm blushed and told her he was. "You were great - you can really sing and you've got the moves." She turned to Mac. "You are one lucky woman." Mac smiled. "I know." "So, are you going to sing again tonight?" Harm shook his head. "My singing career was for one night only. From now on, I only sing in the shower." "What a shame." She left. Bud laughed. "You seem to have made an impression, sir." "As long as I made an impression on the right person," and he glanced at Mac, "that's all that mattered to me when I got up there." Mac slid her hand under the table and squeezed his knee. "I'll be back in a minute, Harm. Have to go powder my nose." She kissed him gently and walked off. The emcee walked out and announced that the mike was now open for anyone to come up and sing. Harriet asked, "So I wonder if anyone's going to be brave enough to go up on stage and try to top your performance, sir?" "I'm never living that down, am I?" Harm hid his face in his hands. "No, I don't think so," Sturgis chuckled. "Not if I have anything to do with it. Music began playing - it was an Abba song. Harriet looked at the stage to see who was up there. "Oh ... my ... God ..." Harm's head snapped up as he heard Mac start singing.
Mac grinned at Harm while she sang those words, and he remembered her comments about his smile when they first met.
Mac swung her hips and began walking towards Harm. His mouth grew dry as she ran her fingers through her hair and looked directly at him.
The song ended and the crowd at McMurphy's went nuts. The emcee took the microphone back from Mac and said, "Wow. You guys ought to take your show on the road." "Sorry, but this show's for one man only." Mac stepped off the stage and into Harm's embrace. He kissed her long and hard. "So I take it you liked my song?" Mac asked breathlessly when he finally broke away. "You were driving me crazy up there," he whispered in her ear. "How much longer do we have to stay here?" "Long enough for me to drive you even more crazy," she murmured in reply as they returned to their table. The End. |
